Announcement of joint St Bene’t’s-Corpus Christi College Sunday Eucharist Easter Term 2023

The Churchwardens and PCC of St Bene’t’s Church have gratefully accepted an extremely generous offer from Corpus Christi College to give St Bene’t’s some continuity and extra support for our Sunday morning worship through the upcoming Easter Term. Starting on Sunday 30th April and going through to 11th June, we will be combining Corpus’s morning Eucharist with our own 10am service at St Bene’t’s and be joined by the Chaplain, the Revd Dr Matthew Bullimore and the Corpus Chapel choir. Matt will celebrate or preach each Sunday alongside our own clergy, Ed, Olga and Richard; Matt will also celebrate at 8am services as needed.

We have agreed with Matt, Nick Danks, the Corpus Director of Music, and Ralph Woodward, our own organist, on a way for the Corpus Choir to contribute to the services, whilst maintaining our normal pattern of worship and congregational participation. The choir will most probably be seated in the choir stalls and sing the Sanctus, the Agnus Dei and a motet or anthem in place of the post-communion hymn. All the rotas, including readers and cantors for the psalm, will continue as normal, as will the congregational singing of the Gloria. So we look forward to welcoming Matt and the Choir over the coming term, as our Patron strongly supports us with our interim plans. This arrangement comes with the full encouragement and endorsement of Bishop Stephen and the Archdeacon, the Venerable Alex Hughes, who we wish to thank for their constant and invaluable help and support over the past month and moving forward.
