Join in the Mystery
Fabienne Bonnet
Here below are some words, I turned into a poem and translated into French for a Christmas card. As I seem to work better with words than ideas, I’m only struck now by how much they invite us to join in the mystery of the Incarnation. First there is the waiting and the longing barely contained in wonderment, then, of course, our wanting to know, so stories unfold inevitably leaving the mystery intact. But offset against this, is the unexpected presence itself, in the here and now, of the newborn Christ.
‘O wonder of Wonders
Which no one can unfold
The Ancient of days
One or two hours old’
O Mystère des Mystères
Que nul ne peut dérouler
Ancien des jours âgé
D’une heure ou deux
